About

Ms. Lerner graduated with a master's degree in social work from Washington University in St. Louis with concentrations in children, youth and families and mental health. Ms. Lerner is nationally certified as a Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) provider, and has expertise in individual, family, and group-based interventions for youth with trauma-related disorders. Ms. Lerner is also trained in Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC), Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents (TGCTA), Bounce Back, Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS), and is certified to teach yoga to children.

Ms. Lerner has spent the past 8 years as the Clinical Coordinator of the Trauma Treatment Service (TTS). This, multidisciplinary team provides behavioral healthcare to youth and families who have experienced psychological trauma and/or violence.


Additionally, she has presented at various national conferences including the Annual Child Maltreatment Symposium and the national conference of the American Psychological Association. Ms. Lerner has also obtained several grants including a large, state grant to support the efforts of TTS and increase its ability to provide services to more youth across Illinois.

Ms. Lerner has co-led many hospital-based training workshops and seminars focused on introducing and building trauma-informed care practices for various medical providers, increasing awareness and strategies to support provider wellness in staff, and building effective, trauma-informed, and patient-centered communication practices among medical providers and patients.

Additionally, Ms. Lerner has partnered with the hospital-wide provider wellness initiative, Resilience in Stressful Events (RISE) from Johns Hopkins University, to provide both initial and ongoing consultation and training on provider wellness and managing programmatic interventions.
