Dr. Jerome Lane is an attending physician in Pediatric Nephrology at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He earned a B.A. in Classics and Biology from Brandeis University in 1987, and his M.D. degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 1991. Dr. Lane completed his residency in Pediatrics at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital in 1994, and his fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Hospital in 1997

Dr. Lane sees a wide variety of patients as a pediatric nephrologist, including patients with nephrotic syndrome, hypertension, congenital anomalies of the urinary tract, vasculitis, lupus nephritis, and chronic kidney disease. He also is a member of The Chicago Institute for Fetal Health, where her provides prenatal consultation regarding fetal kidney conditions, as well as the Institute for Global Health (IGH), Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) - Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities, and Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS). 

Dr. Lane was a founding member and has served on the Board of Directors of the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium, the leading, multicenter collaborative research group in pediatric nephrology in the country. His primary research involves lupus nephritis and glomerular disease (including nephrotic syndrome, FSGS, and IgA nephropathy, among other kidney diseases). He has also published studies regarding relapsing peritonitis in pediatric peritoneal dialysis; biomarkers of acute kidney injury in post-cardiac surgery critical care patients; and sleep disorders in children with kidney disease. Dr. Lane is the principal investigator at Lurie Children’s for the CureGN Study, an NIH-sponsored study designed to prospectively collect clinical data and biological specimens from children and adults with a variety of glomerular diseases.
