Dr. Kabre is a pediatric surgeon who specializes in traditional and minimally invasive treatment of a wide variety of congenital and acquired conditions across the age spectrum, including anomalies of respiratory and digestive tract, abdomen, esophagus, diaphragm and intestines.

Dr. Kabre is an expert in pediatric trauma and directs the pediatric trauma service at Lurie Children’s Hospital. She is also a nationally recognized authority on the treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome, a rare condition marked by abnormal pressure, compression and possible damage of nerves and blood vessels located in the lower neck and upper chest area.

As a clinician, Dr. Kabre believes that the practice of medicine requires more than technical knowledge and scientific acumen. It takes an ability to engage, listen and empathize with patients and their families and understand the dynamics that shape their emotional responses to their illness and injury.

As a physician-scientist, Dr. Kabre is the Lurie Children’s pediatric surgery representative to the Midwest Pediatric Surgery Consortium, a research partnership involving pediatric surgery investigators from 11 academic children’s hospitals in the Midwest who are passionate about studying surgical diseases and their management in children.  The partnership was formed with the mission of advancing the practice of pediatric surgery through high-quality, multi-institutional clinical studies focusing on high-impact surgical diseases with the goals of improving patient outcomes, developing best practices, and reducing health care cost.
