About Me

Dr. Gakenheimer-Smith is a pediatric cardiologist with additional training in pediatric electrophysiology and public health. Her career interests include caring for pediatric and congenital heart disease patients with arrhythmias and alleviating disparities in general pediatric cardiac care, both domestically and globally. As the medical director of community and mobile health in the division of pediatric cardiology, she is passionate about increasing access to pediatric cardiac care in the Chicagoland area, particularly in medically under-resourced areas.
