About Me

Andy Drackley obtained his M.S. in Genetic Counseling from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (NU FSM). Since then, he has worked as a genetic counselor and variant scientist in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Lurie Children’s. His predominant clinical role involves the analysis, interpretation, and reporting of genetic testing results. He also is a frequent collaborator with clinical researchers on studies involving genetic testing and genomic analysis. He is especially interested in the development and utilization of gene- and disease-specific guidelines for variant classification to improve the utility of genetic testing across specialties, and currently serves as a co-chair for two ClinGen Variant Curation Expert Panels (FBN1 & Pediatric Cataracts). Andy also has a Research Assistant Professor appointment within NU FSM and is a course coordinator ("Genetic Counseling Laboratory Techniques and Interpretation"), clinical rotation supervisor, and student thesis advisor for the Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling.
