About Me

Teri Coha is a pediatric nurse with more than 35 years of experience. Since receiving her master’s degree 25 years ago, her practice has focused on the care of children with gastrostomy tubes. 

She is considered an expert in this area and often has patients referred to her from other hospitals, for assistance with gastrostomy care.  Ms. Coha also has significant experience and expertise in the area of ostomy care of newborns, infants and children with a range of surgical conditions.

Teri Coha is part of Lurie Children’s team of advanced practiced nurses certified in wound care, the largest such team in Illinois specifically focused on the care and treatment of pediatric patients. Ms. Coha and colleagues use the latest and most advanced wound-care techniques and specialize in pain-minimizing approaches that include reduced number of dressing changes and use of non-adhesive products.

Ms. Coha has a master’s in nursing degree from Loyola University and a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University. She received post-graduate training in would, ostomy and continence care from Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis. She has authored multiple book chapters and journal articles on the care of children with gastrostomy tubes, ostomies and wounds. She presents locally, nationally and internationally on these same topics.

Ms. Coha has educated many of the school nurses in the area on gastrostomy care. She is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association and the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Association.
