About
Heather Ballard, MD MS, is an assistant professor of pediatric anesthesiology at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. She also serves as the medical director for hepatobiliary and transplant anesthesiology at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Ballard focuses her research on health services outcomes and using simulation-based mastery learning to improve skill acquisition. She is passionate about medical education and using simulation curricula to train practitioners to improve patient care outcomes.
Dr. Ballard received her BS (chemical engineering), MS (health services outcomes research), and MD from Northwestern University. She trained in anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and pediatric anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Ballard spends her spare time rediscovering the joy of children’s books and finding awe in nature with her husband and two children.
