About
Dr. Alpern is a pediatric emergency medicine physician scientist who cares for children with acute illness and injury in the emergency department. She holds the George M. Eisenberg Professor of Pediatrics, is the Division Head of Emergency Medicine, and the Vice Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She has research expertise in the use of large databases within research networks to improve the quality and equity of emergent care delivered to children through application of evidence-based work. She has particular interest in improving the evaluation and treatment of children with infectious emergencies.
