Nine-year-old Kathleen has undergone five heart surgeries, including a transplant. She is enrolled in the Neo-Heart Developmental Support Program for children with neurodevelopmental issues due to brain injuries related to their heart defects.
Five-year-old Evelyn loves to play mommy with her “babies” — her dolls. Diagnosed with cancer at age 3, she was enrolled in a clinical research study at Lurie Children’s that may enable her to preserve the ability to have children in the future.
When Easton’s parents were told their unborn son had a fatal kidney condition, they turned to Lurie Children’s fetal medicine experts for help.
"Yes, I am deaf and therefore different, but I’m not the only one,” said Marne Sullivan during her 8th grade commencement speech in June before 400 fellow students and 1,600 guests. “We’re all unique in our own ways. We all have a story to tell."
