Legal & Regulatory Information
The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced accreditation extension survey of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in December 2012.
The purpose of the survey was to evaluate the organization's compliance with nationally established Joint Commission (JC) standards and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements following the move to our new hospital. These standards and requirements represent a rigorous national consensus on safe quality patient care amidst changing healthcare practices and new delivery methods.
The main hospital, including inpatient services and outpatients clinics, and our hospital outpatient satellite locations are all included in the survey process.
Our next unannounced triennial survey is expected by the end of September 2016.
We choose to participate in the unannounced survey process for measurement against national standards for excellence in providing care, treatment and services to our patients. The outcome of our survey can be viewed on the Quality Check site of The Joint Commission.
The accreditation decision for the hospital is effective through November 2013; however, we may experience a focused survey following our move to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, which occurred in June 2012. Our accreditation acknowledges our commitment to our patients and families through the daily work of our dedicated physicians, nurses and staff.
As noted in our Patient Rights information, all concerns about the quality or safety of patient care at Lurie Children's are very important to us. We encourage you to contact our Patient Relations department staff to share your concerns at 312.227.4943. Our Patient Relations staff is committed to help resolve any concerns in a timely manner.
