Children’s Memorial made the exclusive list of Chicago’s top 100 places to work according to a survey by the Chicago Tribune in partnership with Workplace Dynamics LLC of Exton, Pa., a workplace survey specialist company. The companies were divided into three categories: small (fewer than 250 employees), medium (250-999) and large (1,000 and above). Out of the 20 top employers with 1,000 or more employees, Children's Memorial ranked 12.
The Chicago Tribune did the survey to find out what makes employees feel good about their jobs and what organizations provide great work environments in the Chicago Metropolitan area.. Workplace Dynamics invited 1,362 organizations to participate and surveyed employees in more than 180 companies using paper or online surveys. Employees responded to a set of statements about their workplace. For example, statements focused on issues such as the direction of the company (“I have confidence in the leadership of this organization”), execution (“at this organization we do things efficiently and well”) and conditions (“I have the flexibility I need to balance my work and personal life”).
“We are pleased to be named one of the top employers in Chicago,” said Keith Olson, director, Organizational Development. “Children's Memorial has long recognized the importance of creating a great work environment. Our unique culture enables us to attract and retain the best staff which, in turn, enables us provide the best possible care to the children and families we serve. It is key to our success as an organization.”
In years past, Children’s Memorial has been named to Working Mother’s top 100 employers in the nation and 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare by business magazine, Modern Healthcare. It was ranked ninth out of “The Top 25 Best Places to Work” in the most recent survey by Chicago magazine.
