Specialty Services: Mood, Anxiety & Neuropsychiatry
We have developed the Mood & Anxiety Program and the Pediatric Neuropsychiatric Program to serve children with specific needs.
Mood & Anxiety Program
The Mood and Anxiety Program provides evidence-based assessment and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. Our program evaluates and treats major and minor depression, separation anxiety, generalized anxiety, social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder and selective mutism. Our services include comprehensive diagnostic evaluation (e.g., semi-structured interviews and parent, teacher and self-report questionnaires), consultation, psychopharmacological intervention and therapy.
Therapy is provided in individual, family and group formats as needed and relies heavily on cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. Bilingual services are available for assessment and therapy in Spanish. Upon completion of the diagnostic evaluation, a multidisciplinary team of clinicians reviews each case and provides treatment recommendations. As an evidence-based clinic, we are interested in treatment response and collect ongoing information from parents and children about symptom changes throughout treatment.
Pediatric Neuropsychiatry Program
The goal of the Pediatric Neuropsychiatry Program, led by Sigita Plioplys, MD, is to optimize psychiatric services to patients with neurological disorders, as well as to advance the art and science of pediatric neuropsychiatry. The program provides multidisciplinary psychiatric evaluations and treatment to youth with neurological disorders, including:
- Brain tumors
- Traumatic brain injury
- Cerebral palsy
- Psychogenic non-neurological syndromes (e.g., non-epileptic seizures and non-neurological paralysis)
- Genetic, degenerative and vascular neurological disorders
- Neuromuscular disorders
