Dr. Lautz is a pediatric surgeon who specializes in traditional and minimally invasive treatments of a spectrum of congenital and acquired diseases in newborns, infants, children and adolescents. He has a special emphasis on the management of children with solid tumors.

He also treats a variety of complex pediatric hepatobiliary conditions, inflammatory bowel disease, malrotation of the intestines, diaphragmatic hernia, congenital intestinal anomalies, esophageal atresia, pyloric stenosis, and thoracic conditions.

Dr. Lautz’s mission is to merge the art and science of pediatric surgery, working in close collaboration with his patients and their families. He prides himself on evidence-based practice that incorporates the best available science in all care and treatment decisions. At the same time, Dr. Lautz believes that engaging families as active partners in their child’s care lies at the epicenter of treatment success so he ensures that patients and families understand every step of the process, the rationale behind treatment decisions and have a voice in the care plan.

As an academician, Dr. Lautz focuses his research on quality of care and outcomes research as well as on the mechanisms and treatment of pediatric hepatobiliary conditions. He has expertise in the analysis of common pediatric surgical conditions using large national databases.

 

Dr. Lautz has authored more than 40 textbook chapters and peer-reviewed articles and presented at numerous local, national and international meetings.
