The creation of Lurie Children’s was a community effort. It demonstrated the value that the greater Chicago community places on having superior healthcare available for all our children.

Creating the New Hospital Together

Lurie Children’s is the result of a collaborative effort:
  • More than 800 Children’s Memorial employees and physicians were involved in programming and design
  • Patients and families on the Family Advisory Board and Kids Advisory Board met monthly with project leaders to ensure that designs reflect their needs
  • Generous support of over 250,000 donors to date helped make our new state-of-the-art hospital a reality
  • Donated talent from over 20 of Chicago’s cultural institutions helped create unique kid-friendly environments to promote healing, education and discovery
  • Team of skilled architects, construction and program managers helped us finish the project on time and under budget
